Light & Therapy
I recently had the opportunity to take pictures for a marriage conference held here in Atlanta at my home church. My husband and I serve on the pastoral team there, and my husband is in charge of all of the media that goes on…hence, he volunteered me for the position of the photographer; which I happily accepted. I love being in the background observing and capturing beautiful moments. It’s a way for me, as an introvert, to interact with my environment in a way that feels very productive, and even therapeutic, as I process and capture what is happening around me.
Overall, I was pleased with how some of the pictures turned out. I tried to make the angles interesting and capture people’s genuine emotions, without disrupting the beauty that was happening in the room. There is a balance of doing your job and not breaking the moments that matter. It’s important to keep optimism about your work at the forefront of your thoughts as you think over how the shoot went. There were many moments of failure, and “bad” photographs, however, I’m learning. It’s an art form. I’ll always be learning, improving, and exploring. And I’m very excited about that. I hope to continue to have opportunities like this to learn and to contribute my gifts to these spaces.
